Why Accreditation?

WASC is the Western Association of Schools and Colleges, which accredits high schools, colleges and elementary schools.  By earning this exclusive and prestigious accreditation it has been determined by the WASC commission that a school is worthy of the trust placed in them to provide high quality learning opportunities, and that they clearly demonstrate that they are about the critical business of continual self-improvement.  The WASC team at Woodland Star spent considerable time and effort preparing a thorough, written report for submission as well as for an on-site inspection that occurred last November.   Woodland Star has earned the maximum initial credential term of three years.

WASC accreditation is certification to the public that the school is a trustworthy institution of learning that fosters improvement of the school's programs and operations to support student learning.  Accreditation also validates the integrity of a school's program and student transcripts, assures the community that the school's purposes are appropriate and being accomplished through a viable educational program.

Woodland Star Charter School is a tuition-free public school inspired by Waldorf teaching methods.  For more information, contact Administrator Chip Romer at (707)996-3849.
