ANNOUNCEMENTS
Woodland Star Education
Foundation Open Forum
~ Thursday, April 10th from 5-6:30
PM in the 7th grade. Meet the board and learn about the Ed
foundation and how it supports WSS. If
you have specific questions you would like answered, please submit them to Paul
Golubovich at paulgolubovich@mac.com.
Come and learn about the important role parents play in supporting our school
and how you might get involved. FREE
childcare will be provided to those who make an advance reservation in the
office. Reservations will be accepted
until Wednesday evening.
Get connected ~ If you are interested in
seeing the agendas and minutes for Charter Council meetings, go to our webpage:
woodlandstarschool.org and click on the Documents tab on the left side tool
bar, and then Charter Council. Also, do
check out the calendar for on-going events, plays, class meetings and other
important events at the school. If
you've missed an issue of Just the Facts, all issues are available on-line and
by signing up on the webpage, you'll automatically receive it via e-mail. We want to keep everyone in the loop and are
doing out best to do this in an environmentally responsible and efficient way,
thanks!
New Distribution for Just
the Facts ~ In
the spirit of saving paper, we first of all, encourage all to sign up to
receive the Just the Facts electronically by simply signing up on our
homepage. If that doesn't work for you,
we are going to be making the Just the Facts paper editions available in the
office on the front counter instead of having the copies go home with the
children. Many families receive multiple
copies and we wish to avoid that paper waste.
The new distribution will start with the April 21st issue.
Thank you all!
Warm tea, good
conversation, cozy setting....Have I
got your attention yet? Feel free to
join us in the Aftercare room from 8:30-9:30 am on Friday mornings after
singing, for tea and connecting with other WSS parents. The drop off and pick up exchanges with
other parents, while pleasant, don't
exactly provide the opportunity to really get to know one another. Spend an hour, meet new friends, deepen
social connections and marvel in the wonderful community that we have here at
WSS! Thank you to Miss Gaylan for donating the space.
Congratulations!
~ to
Sydney and Rachel Shopoff for award-winning entries in the Cinco de Mayo Poster
Contest held by La Luz Center! Sydney's
entry was selected as a runner up, and Rachel's is an honorable mention.
Both girls will be invited to receive a gift at the Cinco de Mayo Fiesta at the
Plaza on Sunday, May 4th. Felicidades!
WSS Professional
Directory ~ We have such an amazing
pool of talented professionals that makeup our community that we have decided
to put together a directory of professional services that WSS community members
have to offer. It's wonderful to be able
to support other WSS community members when you need to hire out for services. Having a comprehensive listing of what/who is
available will make this process much easier .
One issue per month of Just the Facts will feature a professional
directory listing contact information and a one sentence summary of the
business or service. Our first issue
will run Monday, April 28th.
If you are interested in being featured in the directory, email your
contact information as well as a brief summary (one sentence) of what you
offer, as well as any special offers available to WSS community members. This
information can be sent to: asstadmin@woodlandstarschool.org
Lumber & Logs ~ we are always in need of sanded lumber ( 2 X 6 and 4
X 4) and smallish logs for use in our play yards. If you have any to spare, feel free to bring
them in and we'll make great use of them!
Festival Committee
Update~ The festival committee
is looking for the pieces from past Spring Fairs i.e. Sleeping Giant, hand
painted signs, etc.. Please contact
Cindy Riley if you have any information: anindigomom@yahoo.com.
Thanks!
Speaking w/Children
about Human Reproduction & Sexuality ~ Join Waldorf teacher/mentor Karen Rivers for this Parenting Workshop on
Saturday, April 19th, 10-4 pm.
Workshop fee: $60, location: Sebastopol
Independent Charter
School. For registration call Karen: 415-662-2147.
CLASSIFIEDS
Special Offer to Benefit Woodland Star ~ Former WSS parent Sarah Ford has generously offered to donate portions of her sales to our school, read on for details. Thank you Sarah!! Every sale of the Arbonne products this month will benefit WSS if people mention the school when they order. You can browse here: (hit SHOP ONLINE): http://www.sarahford.myarbonne.com -- I can highly recommend the Sea Salt Scrubs, Bath Salts, Aromatherapy sprays... Etc! The make-up is great. The entire Intelligence line is paraben free, as are the aromatherapy and much more. I also have a LOT on sale in my inventory, and some would still benefit the school.. And I'll make every new $29 membership fee go the school out of my pocket. Call me if you have any questions, or to stop by and try testers. Feel free to let anyone know, they can call my cell 363-3010. )
Free Trees in Containers ~Rescued trees in containers free to good homes. Trees are mostly plum and olive, and container sizes vary from 2 gallons to 20 gallons. These trees were put in containers a year ago, have been watered regularly and are quite healthy. We just don't have enough room to replant them all. Call John or Carol Arntz at 935-8789, or email jwarntz@pacbell.net <mailto:jwarntz@pacbell.net>
Metal Shelving Needed ~ Kindergarten play areas need metal shelving on which they can store their play gear. Please let Susan know if you have something to donate.
Trundle/Daybed Needed ~ do you have a trundle/day bed that needs a new home? If so, please call Sue 812-3720.
Yoga Class ~ Join Ariana Kanwit for a relaxing afternoon yoga class, Tuesdays from 3:30-5 PM. All levels are welcome to this intimate and friendly setting. Classes are held in the home of a WSS parent, for more information see Ariana.
